Travel, Building and Loving on Kids

The team met up in Chula Vista on Sunday afternoon and made a run for the border shortly after 1:30 pm. All four of our vans were pulled into secondary inspection, scanned and sent on their way for the approximately 90 km journey to the YUGO campus.

Through the twists and turns of Mexican streets and the beautiful Pacific Ocean as our backdrop, we arrived at the YUGO campus shortly before 4:00 p.m.

The day concluded with a time of prayer together.

Building a Better Tomorrow

The families whom we will be serving this week are ones of struggle and hope. As we arrived at our build sites, we were greeted by empty slabs and holes for the new banos. Empty slabs represent a new

Empty slabs represent a new beginning, hope that our past does not equal our future. We have been called to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.

Each day our work begins and ends with prayer. Prayer that each house will change a family’s life forever and that they can have true freedom in Jesus Christ. These homes represent a gift from their heavenly Father. Some have given their lives to Christ, and some are still a little further from their decision.

Each home had cutters, framers, and painters. By lunch time, the frame of a house with two rooms, a few windows, and a door was already visible from the road.

After lunch, the roof joists, the siding and electrical was already going in and would be complete by the time our vans left the work site.

Home-Day 1 Finished

When you look at your home, do you see the promise of hope and future?

I hope so, because for each of these families when they woke up yesterday morning there was nothing but a slab, a foundation. And when they went to sleep last night they saw a bright future built for them and with them as a gift.

VBS & Soccer – A Match Made in Heaven

In Mexico, soccer is part of the culture and as our VBS team began they used soccer to pull kids out of their homes and into the church.

Christ said, “Let the little children come to me” and soccer was one calling card. The team shared the love of Christ in words, in laughter, in love, in sports and through a warm meal to neighborhood children.

There will be more on VBS in the next day,

God is at work in Mexico, and we have only been here a short time, but we see the power of your prayers for each of us. Thank you for lifting us up and partnering with us.

Day Two begins shortly, stay tuned!
